Apple’s next-generation Vision Pro may pack a bigger performance boost than expected, thanks to the M5 chip.

According to a recent MacRumors report citing an apparent Apple code leak, the upcoming Apple Vision Pro 2 will include the yet-to-be-announced M5 processor, skipping over the previously rumored M4. If true, that would mark a major jump from the first-gen Vision Pro’s M2 chip, which was already outdated by the time the headset launched.

From M2 to M5: A Significant Leap

The current Vision Pro runs on the M2, Apple’s flagship chip when the headset was first unveiled, though the M3 arrived before its release. Early whispers suggested that the Vision Pro 2 would run on the M5, but more recent rumors had dialed that back to the M4.

Now, this fresh leak swings the pendulum back toward the M5, potentially offering next-level performance for mixed reality experiences. Given the arrival of visionOS 26 and its new features, the M5 could really amp up the Vision Pro experience.

While it’s unclear how comprehensive this leaked code really is, the possibility of M5 power in Vision Pro 2 is sure to get enthusiasts buzzing. For now, we’ll have to wait for Apple’s official announcement, likely sometime in 2025.
