Apple TV is expanding its Formula 1 broadcasting strategy beyond home streaming through a new partnership with IMAX.

The companies announced that select 2026 Formula 1 Grand Prix races will be shown live in IMAX theaters across the United States.

Five 2026 Grand Prix races coming to IMAX

Five races from the 2026 season will be screened live at more than 50 IMAX locations nationwide:

  • Miami Grand Prix – May 3, 2026
  • Monaco Grand Prix – June 7, 2026
  • British Grand Prix (Silverstone) – July 5, 2026
  • Italian Grand Prix (Monza) – September 6, 2026
  • United States Grand Prix (Austin) – October 25, 2026

From the listed schedule, the first IMAX screening will be the Miami Grand Prix on May 3.

This move extends Apple’s Formula 1 coverage into large format theatrical venues, offering fans a cinema scale live sports experience.

Expanding beyond the living room

Apple Tv F1 Partnership 1

In the United States, an Apple TV subscription is required to stream Formula 1 at home this season. The IMAX partnership broadens distribution beyond direct-to-consumer streaming.

Apple Services VP Oliver Schusser said the goal is to deliver the energy and excitement of F1 to more screens in an immersive format.

The strategy follows Apple’s previous IMAX collaboration tied to F1: The Movie, starring Brad Pitt, which brought Formula 1 themed content to premium theaters.

Part of IMAX’s live events push

For IMAX, the partnership aligns with a broader initiative to diversify revenue streams beyond traditional theatrical releases. The company has been leaning into live sports and concert events as growth drivers.

Formula 1 live broadcasts represent another step in that expansion.

Commercial access through EverPass media

Separately, Apple recently confirmed that Formula 1 broadcasts will also be available in restaurants, bars, and clubs through a deal with EverPass Media.

The agreement covers:

  • Formula 1
  • MLS
  • MLB Friday Night Baseball

EverPass distributes live television access to commercial establishments across the United States, extending Apple’s sports footprint into public venues.
