Apple has shared a moving new video showing how the iPhone’s Action mode is making a difference in the lives of people living with Parkinson’s disease.

Stabilization that actually matters

Parkinson’s can cause hand tremors, which usually make hand-held video recordings shaky and hard to watch. But with Action mode in the Camera app, iPhone can automatically stabilize footage so it looks smooth and natural, even when the person holding the phone is dealing with tremors.

Accessibility at work

In Apple’s video, we meet Brett, Bette, and Ellen, all of whom live with Parkinson’s. Apple highlights how Action mode, combined with accessibility features like Voice Control, helps them record video more easily and keep capturing the moments that matter most.

“The simple act of filming can be challenging for people with Parkinson’s,” Apple says. “With Action mode on iPhone, they can reclaim the joy of filming their favorite moments.”

For Brett, who has been behind cameras for decades, having that option back is “kind of life-changing.”

Available on iPhone 14 and later

Action mode is available on iPhone 14 through iPhone 16 models, with the exception of the iPhone 16e.

It’s a reminder that sometimes a feature marketed for action shots, sports, or running around can actually have a much bigger, real-world impact for accessibility.
