Apple has released a new Apple Pay promo titled “Outrun”, and it might be one of the most entertaining ads they have put out in a while.

Instead of the usual clean and calm Apple aesthetic, the company has gone full action movie. The star of the video is an everyday iPhone user who is being chased by a gigantic dinosaur. Things get chaotic fast, and just when it feels like she is about to escape for good, her car runs out of fuel.

Because of course it does. Even during a dinosaur-level crisis, your car will still choose the most inconvenient moment to remind you that you forgot to fill up.

When Everything Is Falling Apart, Apple Pay Still Works Instantly

The woman pulls into a gas station with a dinosaur behind her tearing through the city. She rushes toward the pump, stressed, gasping for air and trying to survive. This is where Apple steps in with its actual message. Instead of scrambling for a wallet or trying to insert a card three times before it finally works, she just taps her iPhone and pays instantly with Apple Pay.

It is a small detail inside a chaotic scene, but it perfectly captures the point Apple wants to make. Quick payments matter, especially when the last thing you want is a delay at the checkout counter. Or in this case, a delay that might get you eaten.

Apple kept the YouTube description short but witty:

“Life is chaotic. Paying should not be. Just use Apple Pay and be on your way.”

The gas station attendant barely reacts to the giant dinosaur behind the window. Honestly, it might be the most realistic part of the ad. Anyone who has worked a long shift in retail knows that look. You could walk in carrying a live volcano and someone would still ask you if you want a receipt.

A Fun New Direction for Apple

“Outrun” shows Apple leaning more into playful storytelling and humor. The dinosaur, the dramatic music, the frantic escape, the casual cashier, everything ties together into an ad that is fun to watch but still gets the message across. Apple Pay is fast, simple and dependable in every scenario. Thankfully, most real life scenarios involve your morning coffee and not a prehistoric predator.

All in all, the ad is memorable and surprisingly relatable. No, you will not be running from dinosaurs anytime soon, but we have all been in situations where a fast payment method saves you some stress. Apple Pay clearly wants to be the tool that helps you get in, get out and keep moving without slowing down.
