Apple Music is officially available as an app inside ChatGPT. After OpenAI announced the integration earlier this week, the feature is now live and usable for Apple Music subscribers.
While this does not turn ChatGPT into a music streaming player, it does unlock a much smarter way to discover music, build playlists, and find songs using natural language.
What the Apple Music Integration Actually Does
The biggest misconception about this update is that it lets you stream full songs directly inside ChatGPT. That is not the case.
Instead, ChatGPT now acts as a powerful front end for Apple Music. You can use plain language to search, discover, and create playlists, with results that open directly in the Apple Music app on iPhone, iPad, Mac, or the web.
You can still hear short song previews inside ChatGPT, but full playback happens in Apple Music.
Creating Playlists with Natural Language

This is where the integration really shines.
Apple Music subscribers can now ask ChatGPT to generate playlists based on very specific prompts. For example:
- Create a 30 song rock Christmas playlist but avoid overplayed classics
- Build a workout playlist that starts mellow and ramps up
- Recreate a fictional playlist like Barney’s Get Psyched Mix from How I Met Your Mother
ChatGPT handles the heavy lifting by selecting tracks and adding them directly to a playlist in Apple Music.
Finding Songs When You Don’t Know the Name
Another standout feature is fuzzy music search.
You can describe a song without knowing the title or artist, and ChatGPT will try to figure it out using context. That includes vague memories, lyrics you half remember, or references to movies and TV shows.
This makes discovering forgotten songs far less frustrating than traditional search.
How to Use Apple Music in ChatGPT
Getting started is straightforward:
- Go to chatgpt.com/apps or open the Apps section in ChatGPT

- Select Apple Music
- Connect your Apple Music account
Once connected, you can either start prompts with “/Apple Music” or let ChatGPT automatically use Apple Music when your request is music related.
In many cases, you do not need to explicitly mention Apple Music at all.
Apple Music integration requires an active Apple Music subscription. Pricing starts at $10.99 per month, with a one month free trial available for new subscribers.
