Apple Adds iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 to Vintage List – Limited Repairs Ahead
Apple just updated its vintage and obsolete devices list, and it affects some popular iPhones and iPads.
The iPhone 7 Plus and two storage versions of the iPhone 8 (64GB and 256GB) are now considered vintage. That means Apple will still repair these devices, but only if spare parts are available. If not, you’re out of luck.
Interestingly, the 128GB iPhone 8 is not on the list yet, since Apple sold it for a longer time.
Also, the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 2 have been moved from vintage to obsolete. Devices become obsolete seven years after they were last sold. If your iPad is on the obsolete list, Apple won’t repair it at all, even if you visit an Apple Store or an authorized provider.
Why This Matters: If you use one of these devices, now’s the time to back up your data and consider an upgrade. Once a device goes vintage or obsolete, support fades quickly.
Stay updated with changes like this, especially if you rely on Apple support for repairs or maintenance.
