Anker Claims the Risk of Malfunction is Low, But it’s Exercising Caution and Want’s Users to Stop Using Them Immediately
Anker has issued a global recall for five power bank models due to potential fire hazards, just days after recalling its PowerCore 10,000. While the company says the risk is low, it’s pulling the affected products “out of an abundance of caution.”
According to Anker, all five recalled models use lithium-ion battery cells from the same supplier and could overheat, melt, or even catch fire.
Here’s what’s affected, and how to check if your device is one of them.
Power Banks Affected by the Recall

These five models are included in the new recall:
- Anker Power Bank (10K, 22.5W) — Model A1257
- Anker Power Bank (20,000mAh, Built-In USB-C Cable) — Model A1647
- Anker MagGo Power Bank (10,000mAh) — Model A1652
- Anker Zolo Power Bank (20K, USB-C & Lightning Cable) — Model A1681
- Anker Zolo Power Bank (20K, USB-C Cable) — Model A1689
How to Check If Yours Is Affected
- Find the model number on the back or side of your power bank.
- Go to Anker’s recall form and enter your serial number or proof of purchase.
- Double-check characters like O vs. 0, and I vs. 1. These small typos can cause issues.
- If your product is impacted, choose your compensation: Free replacement or Anker gift card
Stop Using It & Dispose of It Safely
If you have a recalled power bank:
- Stop using it immediately.
- Don’t throw it in regular trash or recycling.
- Wait for confirmation, then take it to a certified hazardous waste facility.
Final Note
Anker says this is part of a new push to improve quality assurance. And while this might be frustrating, the company is at least being transparent and proactive.
If you own any of these models, now’s the time to check, claim a replacement (or gift card), and dispose of it safely.
